It's late. We're slap-happy. Soon, we'll be going home.

At this point in time, the best Kerry can hope for is a 269-269 tie, which will lead to a resolution by the House and possibly rioting. Unless, of course, he can pull Ohio out of his rump at the last minute.
We're debating the merits of the Electoral College. Or rather, they're ranting about the Electoral College, and I'm typing.
Intermission
We're taking a break from the returns to watch a DVD of outtakes of Elaine Stritch recording "The Ladies Who Lunch" for the Original Cast Recording of Company. We're such nerds.
Claire: Andy, I screwed up the wine thing and it was a disaster. We have a wine catastrophe. I tried to open the bottle with the wine thing and it pushed the cork into the bottle.
Andy: Something just broke?
Overheard
"Bush is leading the popular vote? What kind of fucking country is this? "
"CNN gave Bush Florida. There was groaning, moaning, swearing, etc."
"Nader -- One of the great villians of the Century."
I just talked to my mother, who has read Sara's acceptance speech, and apparently she's going to talk about me in it. We stopped the party for that announcement -- there was cheering. Very sweet. Sara's winning 56-43.
Showtunes are being belted at high volumes. It can't be helped. Need more wine and or cake. Am sitting within 12 inches of full platter of cookies. This is dangerous. Pinot...
If Bush picks up Ohio from this point, it's pretty much over, even if he loses New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Current conversation: How much thhe liberals dislike Kerry and especially Edwards, on grounds of his being a trial lawyer. Conversation switches to one person's father, who is a doctor and pays $20,000 a year in malpractice insurance.
Gay Marriage
It seems, as of now, that all the Gay Marriage Bans have passed thus far, except for Oregon. I thought Hawaii had one, but apparently not, according to CNN.com. I'm pro-gay marriage, so I'm not thrilled. I wonder how the overwhelming margines of these passages will effect the race?
The mood is not cheery here. They're bashing Moorewatch.com... News of Ohio passing the gay marriage amendment is taken hard. I'm not pleased about that either. I voted against it in Missouri. We're watching TV lines of people still voting in Ohio and such. This could be a long night.
Ooh! Missouri just went for Bush. Go Missouri!
Outer Boroughs
Rumor has it that the Bronx and Staten Island have gone to Bush. I'm not surprised. Those areas are heavily working-class and probably more religious than, say, Manhattan. Friends allege fraud based on these results. Tatyana predicted the outer-boroughs would go Bush...
Okay, I'm here. I'm over by the piano and the cheesecake. Need wine. More when I know what's going on. As of now, Sara's winning 68-31.
Sara
For the most part, of course, my energies are going to be focused on the Presidential (and Senate) race this evening, but there's one other race I'm very interested in as well, at that's the race for the 138th District Rep in Missouri. My friend Sara Lampe is running (as a Democrat) and I worked on her campaign this summer. She's a wonderful woman, pretty much saved my life, and I hope she wins. Results for that race should be being posted here-ish.
Pre-Party
Not at the party yet, but quote of the evening thus far:
"I'm all about Kerry so the world will know that Americans are not all dumb hicks that want to kill people."For the record, I am not illiterate -- my parents were married.

Why Watch Party?
Hello All! This blog is specifically dedicated to blogging Election Night 2004, specifically from the perspective of a conservative at a Watch Party (Election 2004: The Musical) in New York City's East Village/Alphabet City. I'll be there with all of my liberal friends. It should be a grand time. I'll be live-blogging, mostly to keep myself out of trouble. I have another blog, which is probably how you all found me. If you're new and you'd like to know, at the end of the evening, where I can be found on a more permanant basis, email me at kmangoumATaolDOTcom. I might just tell you.
I may also, at some point, post excerpts of the play I'm working on at the moment, also called "Watch Party." We'll see. There won't be much action here again until Tuesday evening, but bookmark it. We'll have a great time.
